Los Angeles Times Brings Food Bowl Back For A Second Year And You Need To Be There

If there's one thing I enjoy almost as much as travel, it's a good food festival. Though the two usually go hand-in-hand for me, there's something about heading to certain food festivals every year that give me an enjoyment that's hard to explain. If you've been to one or plan to go to one this year, I'm sure you'll be able to agree to that statement. Sure, I know it seems like every food festival offers the same result (eat until you pop), but after traveling to places like South Beach, the Cayman Islands, St. Croix, and Atlanta, I've learned that each food festival reveals its own unique, memorable, and tasty experience incomparable to the next. That's why when I heard that the Los Angeles Times was putting on its own unique food festival, I had to tell you about it.

The Los Angeles Times Food Bowl sparked my interest this year because it's not like your ordinary food festival. While most food festivals last for a week, weekend, or a day, this particular food festival goes on throughout the entire month of May. Beginning on the first of the month and going until the last day, the Food Bowl — which is in its second year — celebrates L.A.'s food and drink scene and raises funds/awareness to fight food waste, hunger, and food insecurity. Likewise, the festival promotes sustainability and waste reduction through charity partners and participating events.

Food Bowl will feature #31daysoffood through dining events, panel discussions, chef collaborations, volunteer projects, and an array of food and drink-inspired happenings. From pop-ups and parties to classy breakfasts and brunches, you're absolutely sure to find that this will be a food festival like none other. Other things you can expect at this year's much anticipated festival are food tours of L.A.'s hottest and tastiest neighborhoods, an ode to the city's rising chefs and mixologists, a charity bake sale, the return of the Fried Chicken Party, a city-inspired cocktail week, and much more. Along with all of these great things, for the first time ever, the event dedicated to the announcement for Restaurant of the Year and the Gold Award will be open to the public.

So, if live in or around the L.A. area or if you're looking for another cool reason to visit Los Angeles in May, here's the perfect excuse. If not, you'll definitely read about it here. You can get familiar with the festival, register, and see the line-up (full line-up drops March 31) here.

Looking to hit up more food festivals throughout the year? Here's a pretty extensive month-by-month list that you should check out before you do.
